Use the following steps to learn the tune So Many Lives (version3)

Start by downloading So Many Lives – vn3 with phrasing – this tutorial uses this version of the music.

Next step is to listen to the tune – So Many Lives vn3 (with drum beat) get a feel for the structure and rhythm of the tune.

Now you are ready to start.

Begin with line 1, the first phrase. Play at 64bpm as many times as you need to get it right.  Now try at 70bpm

Line 2, phrase 2 – Listen and play ay 64bpm. Again repeat as needed.  Now try at 70bpm.

Now that you can play phrases 1 and 2 Listen and play at 64bpm together – this is lines 1,2 3 and 4 of the music, the first part of the tune.  Play it now at this first part at 70bpm.

The second part of the tune comprises lines 5 to 8 and is a bit trickier than the first part so we will break it down.

Starting with line 5, the first two bars (17 & 18) are phrase 3 – start with listen and play at 58bpm then try it at 64bpm and then you’ve got it right try it at 70bpm

Now proceed to the next phrase 4, bars 19 & 20.  Again listen and play at 58bpm until you are comfortable with them.  Now try at 64bpm and when that’s okay play at 70bpm You will have already seen that line 5 and 7 are the same!

Now try the whole line – bars 17, 18, 19 & 20
…. 58bpm now faster at 64bpm and now at 70bpm

The last phrase to master is line 6, phrase 5.  This is also the last line 8 so get this one and you’ve got the whole tune.
…listen and play at 58bpm now try at 64bpm and finally at 70bpm

Time to play the second part of the tune lines 5 to 8, the phrases 3, 4 and 5 that you have just mastered.
… listen and play at 58bpm then at 64bpm and then at 70bpm

Well done.  Now you can play the whole tune 70bpm more slowly at 64bpm
